May 22, 2009:

I live in Paris for just over a year in 2006/2007. I had travelled there before but living there was an experience that I’ll never forget. I was lucky enough to be one of those highly paid execs with the matching perks which made living and enjoying everything that city had to offer even sweeter. From watching impromptu singing events outside the Pompidou Centre to spotting fashion people in the bar at the Costes hotel, I tried to do as much as my spare time would allow.

My view from my apartment was not the Eiffer Tower but the Palais De Elysee where I would say ‘Bonjour’ to the Palais’ Guards in the morning and ask jokingly about ‘Jacques’ (Chiraq’s) sante.

We still go back to Paris, now more as locals than visitors. The apartment I occupied whilst there in Rue Faubourg-St Honore went on the market a few months ago but on nearly 1 million Euros, it was hopeless to even entertain ideas that one day I could possess such a fine example of Hausmannian architecture as a second home.

If you are lucky enough to have lived in Paris as a young woman, then wherever you go for the rest of your life, it stays with you, for Paris is a moveable feast.”
